Ubisoft released their latest in the Fay Cry series Far Cry 3 just in time for Christmas. This time you play the character of Jason who’s tasked with saving his friends from pirates after sky diving/adventure holiday goes wrong, which in typical Far Cry fashion all takes place on a remote tropical island.

Now that I’ve had some time to sit down and get into the game, and trust me you will need to take some time to sit down and play the game, its  very easy to get lost in the game. Not only do you have to free your friends  but you also help the local villagers (and they help you) rid the island of pirates with a variety of different missions to choose (as well as some mini games). The game is well set out and you are free to explore the entire island, by land, sea and air… with a variety of different vehicle options.

What I really like about Far Cry 3 is that you can play the game how you want to play it, unlike other first person shooters which dictate either a stealthy or full on approach depending on the story line, Far Cry 3 lets you decide how you want to approach the game and there are usually several different ways to achieve the same goals.

Far Cry 3 also features a online multiplayer system that runs through Ubisoft’s UPlay service, allowing you will play online with and against your friends no matter what sort of console of device you have. Which I find is a smart move from Ubisoft, but you will need an online subscription with your gaming device still.

If you are looking for a first person shooter that is just a bit different from your typical soldier experience then the catchy story line and scenery of Far Cry 3 is definitely for you, and if your a fan of the previous Far Cry’s then you’ll already have your copy of Far Cry 3.
