If 2012 was the year of Health and Fitness Technology then 2013 is the year everyone else is going to jump on the bandwagon! 2012 saw the rise (and in some cases the fall) of Fitbit, Nike+ Fuelband and the Jawbone Up and now we’re seeing a several other competitors throw their hat into the ring, this time its LG.

LG have demonstrated its future entry (due out in Mid 2013) in to the Fitness technology marketplace at CES 2013 with their own Smart Activity Tracker. The LG Smart Activity Tracker band looks a lot like the Nike+ Fuelband, but uses accelerometers, altimeter and GPS to work out activity levels and sync’s that information directly back to your phone (via Bluetooth to both Android and iOS). LG are also planning on including a Heart Rate monitor into the device prior to its release. What makes the LG Smart Activity Tracker stand out from the crowd is that it features a touchscreen display that also sync’s with your phone to advise you of incoming messages and calls or control your music playlist. It will also sync up with apps like Lets Dance on your LG Smart TV to let you work out in the comfort of your own home.
