Ubuntu Phone
Techies, Geeks and Nerds alike will best know Ubuntu as a popular Linux distribution, probably one of the easier Linux distributions for Linux newcomers to use, but Canonical (the company behind Ubuntu) have used CES 2013 in Las Vegas to showcase a new version of Ubuntu… a smart phone variety. While Ubuntu is already available as an Android application linking your Android phone to your Ubuntu desktop, this new product is set to take on Apple (iOS),Google (Android), Microsoft (Windows Phone 8) and RIM (Blackberry) as a complete operating system in the smart phone and tablet market based on the Linux platform.
Featuring a slick content rich user interface, Canonical have taken a similar approach with Ubuntu to Microsoft with Windows 8, integrating the Smartphone, Tablet and Desktop into a common user experience with true multitasking capabilities. Canonical will be making the platform available to developers shortly with handsets featuring Ubuntu to start shipping in early 2014.
