Google have released a new version of its YouTube iOS application with a key new feature, send to TV. Now Google released this feature back in November on its Android version of the YouTube app, but only specifically sharing with Google TV devices. With the iOS version Google have added the ability to send YouTube videos to select Smart TV’s, as well as you XBox or PS3 console.
Now for the YouTube send to TV feature to work both your iOS device and your Smart TV/Console will have to be on the same wireless network. But otherwise it’s as simple as having both devices on and clicking the send to TV icon (next to the sharing icon) from with in your iOS device. Those Smart TV’s that are compatible at this stage include LG, Panasonic, Sony and Bang & Olufsen. Google have announced that the YouTube Send to TV feature will come to Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, Vizio and Western Digital TVs later this year.
Google have also integrated their YouTube Capture application into the new version on YouTube app for iOS allowing you to capture and upload to YouTube with in the same application. Although you need to have YouTube Capture installed.
